HANDLING
INSTRUCTIONS
Exposure
to TRIB II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD may
present certain hazards. The following precautions
should be taken both when handling the treated wood
and in determining where to use or dispose of the treated
wood residue. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheets
for ingredients.
TRIB
II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD may be
used for interior or exterior, concealed or exposed
applications, but MUST BE DRY BEFORE USING. Do not
handle or install TRIB
II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD until it is odor free. If wet wood must be handled,
use impervious gloves and other protective clothing
as necessary.
While wood is drying, stack in a well ventilated
area so that air circulates around each piece. Do not
store in closed areas or where vapors may enter living
or work spaces. Do not install in enclosed areas until
solvents have volatized. Avoid inhalation of vapors.
TRIB
II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD must be thoroughly dry
before staining/painting or blisters or bleeding
may occur. Several days to several weeks
may be required for adequate drying, depending on humidity,
ventilation, material treated, etc. It is recommended
that a vapor barrier such as rosin paper or similar
material capable of withstanding solvent be applied
between the roof membrane and the decking or flooring
material as recommended by the National Roofing Contractors’ Association.
Do not use TRIB II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD for
cutting blocks or countertops. Do not use TRIB
II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD under circumstances where
the preservative may become a component of food or
animal feed.
Gloves are recommended as a normal precaution against
wood splinters and skin abrasion for this and all wood
products. Avoid inhalation of sawdust from treated
wood, wear a dust mask. Whenever possible, these operations
should be performed outdoors to avoid indoor accumulation
of airborne sawdust. When power sawing and machining,
wear goggles to protect eyes from flying particles.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling treated wood
and before eating, smoking or using the bathroom. Good personal hygiene
should be used. Launder clothing contaminated with
sawdust or treating solution prior to reuse and separate from household laundry.
Dispose
of treated wood by ordinary trash collection or burial.
TRIB
II ® PRESSURE TREATED WOOD should not be
burned in open fires or in stoves, fireplaces or residential
boilers because hazardous thermal decomposition products may potentially be
produced as part of the smoke and ash. Treated wood
from commercial or industrial use (e.g., construction
sites) should be burned only in commercial incinerators
or boilers in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
